New governance system at NIGC built on NTBFs

SHANA (Tehran) – The director of research and technology at the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) announced the implementation of a new governance system that leverages the capabilities of new technology-based firms (NTBFs) to meet the strategic needs of the gas industry.

Mohsen Mazloumfarsibaf made the remarks Monday during the Tech-Based Cooperation Development for Digital Transformation in the Gas Industry event — the third such event in 1404. He said the goal of these events goes beyond exhibitions or gatherings, aiming instead to establish a new governance framework within NIGC through partnerships with knowledge-based companies to address the organization’s strategic and technological demands.

“In the first event, 29 technological products and pieces of equipment were presented to knowledge-based firms,” Mazloumfarsibaf said. “By using the potential of these companies, we managed to develop essential and strategic technologies domestically despite the challenges posed by unjust sanctions.”

He added that the second event focused on deploying a smart system for natural gas measurement and distribution. “Previously, there was no genuine domestic manufacturer of smart meters, but today, thanks to local knowledge-based companies, we have achieved world-class smart meter technology,” he said. “Part of this project, related to cybersecurity, is being pursued in cooperation with the Passive Defense Organization and NIGC.”

Mazloumfarsibaf concluded that the stable, reliable, and safe flow of natural gas across the country is the result of the collective efforts of NIGC employees. “We hope that by continuing this path, a new order in the advancement of NIGC technologies will take shape, marking the beginning of a major transformation in this field,” he said.
