OPEC said the collective oil production of its 12 member states reached 28.44 million bpd in September, up from 27.92 million bpd in August.
Iran’s oil output increases
Iran’s average oil production rose to 3.25 million bpd in September, up 44,000 barrels from August. The country’s average output stood at 3.26 million bpd in 2024, compared with 2.88 million bpd in 2023.
Saudi Arabia and Iraq remained the top producers among OPEC members in September 2025, pumping 9.96 million bpd and 4.07 million bpd, respectively.
OPEC+ members — including non-OPEC allies such as Russia — produced a combined 14.61 million bpd in September, up 106,000 barrels from the previous month’s 14.5 million bpd.
In total, crude oil production by OPEC and its partners reached 43.05 million bpd in September, an increase of 630,000 barrels compared with August’s 42.42 million bpd.
Oil prices edge higher
OPEC’s report showed that the price of Iran’s heavy crude rose by 63 cents in September to $69.81 per barrel, up from $69.18 in August. The average price of Iran’s heavy crude in 2024 stood at $81.85 per barrel.
The OPEC Reference Basket averaged $70.39 per barrel in September, up 66 cents from August 2025.
Global Oil Demand Forecast
According to OPEC’s latest outlook, global oil demand in 2025 is expected to increase by 1.38 million bpd, bringing total demand to 105.14 million bpd.
