South Pars sets new record in propane, butane production

SHANA (Tehran) – The managing director of South Pars Gas Complex announced a new record in propane and butane production during the first half of the current Iranian year, crediting the achievement to improved efficiency, optimized production processes, and the round-the-clock efforts of the company’s workforce.

According to the South Pars Gas Complex, Gholamabbas Hosseini said propane production at the complex exceeded 1.8 million tons in the first six months of the year, up 12.5% from 1.6 million tons during the same period last year.

He added that butane production also rose more than 13.6%, increasing from 1.1 million tons to about 1.25 million tons. In the same period, about 2.8 million tons of gas feedstock were supplied to the Pars, Bushehr, and Kangan Petrorefinery complexes — a 2.8% increase compared with last year.

Hosseini attributed these milestones to the use of modern technologies, improvements in refining processes, and the collaboration of the complex’s specialists. He said the sustained growth in liquefied gas production not only helps meet domestic demand but also significantly strengthens Iran’s export capacity.

He emphasized that these records reinforce Iran’s position among the region’s leading LPG producers and demonstrate the technical and operational capabilities of Iranian experts at the Middle East’s largest gas complex. Hosseini noted that South Pars will continue to enhance efficiency and environmental performance through process optimization and green initiatives to secure a larger share of the global LPG market.
