Ethane production rises 7.5% at South Pars Gas Complex

SHANA (Tehran) – The South Pars Gas Complex has set a new record in ethane production, with output reaching more than 2.15 million metric tons in the first half of 1404, according to the company’s managing director.

Gholamabbas Hosseini said ethane production increased 7.5% compared with the same period last year, when about 2 million tons were produced. The high-quality ethane was delivered to petrochemical plants in the Assaluyeh region, playing a key role in ensuring a stable and strategic feedstock supply for local petrochemical industries, he added.

“This increase not only secures the energy supply for these industries but also boosts efficiency and reduces production costs, helping petrochemical products remain competitive in global markets,” Hosseini said.

He noted that as one of the country’s largest energy hubs, the South Pars Gas Complex provides a reliable foundation for developing petrochemical industries and creating jobs in the region through large-scale natural gas processing.

Hosseini also announced that 285,000 tons of granulated sulfur were produced at the complex’s refineries in the first half of the year, achieved through high-quality overhauls and the extensive use of domestically produced equipment.

“The sharp growth in ethane and byproduct output at South Pars reflects the commitment and expertise of our employees, who play a vital role in meeting the country’s strategic energy needs and supporting sustainable national economic growth,” he said.
