SP infill drilling to boost gas output by 15 mcm/day

SHANA (Tehran) – The Pars Oil and Gas Company announced plans to complete and bring into production new wells under its South Pars infield drilling program, aiming to raise daily gas output from the shared field by more than 15 million cubic meters by the end of the year.

According to the company, three wells have already been completed and put into operation in recent months, adding over 5 million cubic meters per day to South Pars’ production. Touraj Dehqani, the company’s CEO, said the figure will climb to more than 15 million cubic meters with the addition of new wells over the next six months.

Dehqani also said preparations are underway for the second phase of the infield drilling project. Engineering studies have been completed, and the National Iranian Oil Co. is reviewing approvals and funding. Once a contractor is selected, field operations will begin in the near future.

The infield drilling program involves 35 new wells across 17 existing gas platforms in South Pars. When fully implemented, the project is expected to increase the field’s daily production by 36 million cubic meters.
