Weekly natural gas consumption tops 4.2 bcm

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran consumed more than 4.2 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas across three major sectors—power plants, large industries, and residential, commercial, and small industries—during the week ending July 11.

According to official data, power plants accounted for nearly 2 bcm, while large industries used about 1.163 bcm. The residential, commercial, and minor industrial sectors consumed approximately 1.106 bcm over the same period.

Daily breakdown

On July 5, total gas consumption reached 582.3 million cubic meters. Power plants consumed 270.87 million, large industries 167.58 million, and the residential-commercial sector 143.85 million cubic meters.

On July 6, consumption dipped slightly to 560.94 million cubic meters, with 261.6 million used by power plants, 166.85 million by large industries, and 132.49 million by the residential-commercial segment.

On July 7, total consumption rose sharply to over 605 million cubic meters. Power plants used 272.62 million, large industries 167.76 million, and the residential-commercial sector 164.8 million cubic meters.

On July 8, demand continued to increase, hitting approximately 615 million cubic meters. Power plants received 286.6 million cubic meters, large industries 164.09 million, and the residential-commercial sector 164.21 million.

On July 9, total consumption surged again to over 626 million cubic meters, with power plants using 288.91 million, large industries 166.07 million, and the residential-commercial sector 171.06 million cubic meters.

On July 10, gas usage reached 628.5 million cubic meters—one of the week's highest. Power plants consumed 287.76 million, large industries 165.54 million, and the residential-commercial sector peaked for the week at 175.2 million cubic meters.

On July 11, power plants recorded their highest weekly use at 290.15 million cubic meters. Large industries consumed 164.94 million, and the residential-commercial sector used 154.33 million cubic meters, bringing the day’s total to 609.42 million cubic meters.

Sector analysis

Throughout the week, power plants consistently ranked as the top consumers of natural gas, breaking multiple daily records. In contrast, residential and commercial consumption showed more fluctuation, peaking on July 10. Large industrial gas usage remained relatively stable, ranging between 164 and 167 million cubic meters per day.
