Oil industry key to Iran’s economic growth, says lawmaker

SHANA (Tehran) – A member of Parliament’s presiding board emphasized that the International Oil Exhibition showcases the achievements and successes of the industry, stating: "The oil industry, as the driving force of the national economy, plays a decisive role in the country’s development and progress."

Abbas Papizadeh noted that the International Oil Exhibition highlights the accomplishments of the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors, adding: "The oil industry is directly tied to the nation’s development—meaning the more investment in this sector, the greater the country’s revenue."

Stressing the need to reduce crude oil sales and shift toward producing higher-value petroleum and petrochemical products, he said: "Increased revenue from this approach will pave the way for infrastructure development in key sectors, including energy, transportation, water, electricity and other vital areas."

The 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition was held in Tehran from May 8–11 under the key slogan "Oil Industry Investment Ensures Economic Growth and Development," reflecting this year’s strategic priorities. The event featured 2,200 domestic and foreign companies.
