Hamid Pourmohammadi, speaking at an open session of Parliament on Tuesday, outlined measures taken regarding the latest status of drafting and approving the bylaws for the Seventh Development Plan. He said all provisions of the plan were prioritized and approved by the Supreme Strategic Council for the Seventh Plan.
Key initiatives approved by the council and now on the government’s agenda include:
- Establishing an Energy Consumption Management Optimization Organization
- A housing development program
- Resolving energy imbalances
- Financing the Seventh Development Plan
- Improving the effectiveness of financial resources in social welfare
- A national artificial intelligence development plan
- Implementing a national productivity system
- Boosting production, transit, and strategic documents
- Enhancing value chains
Pourmohammadi added that the president’s approach differed in that the government’s economic plan was not defined separately but was based on the Seventh Development Plan. He said the plan’s directives were communicated to each cabinet member, with specific identifiers and responsible entities assigned for each. An online monitoring system has also been set up within the PBO to track implementation, accessible to lawmakers.
Referring to Article 119 of the Development Plan Law, he noted the government is required to take action within a year on 26 specified issues. These are categorized under five main themes:
- Economic stability
- Production growth and employment
- Key development projects
- Resolving imbalances
- Sustainable livelihoods
According to observers’ reports, progress on measures related to these areas stands at 50%, 54%, 52%, 85%, and 87%, respectively.
