Oil Ministry launches development of electric vehicle infrastructure

SHANA (Tehran) - The development of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure has begun under the Oil Ministry, following a recent approval by the Economic Council.

Mohammad -Sadeq Azimifar, CEO of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), said that in line with fuel diversification and consumption management efforts, the company has been directed to ensure that new fuel stations in the country include "at least one single-nozzle EV charging station."

As a result, new stations will be required to provide EV charging infrastructure, while existing stations will also expand their EV capabilities after feasibility studies in collaboration with station operators.

In addition to charging infrastructure development, NIORDC is working on plans to modernize and replace aging fleets with electric vehicles, utilizing gasoline savings bonds. These initiatives are set to be unveiled soon.
