Senior MP: Building trust key to attracting investment in oil, gas industry

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the Iranian Parliament’s Energy Committee said removing obstacles and fostering a climate of trust will encourage effective participation by investors in the oil and gas sector.

Musa Ahmadi, speaking at an event on investment and development in Iran’s upstream oil and gas sector, stated: “One of the Energy Committee’s key priorities is realizing the Supreme Leader’s annual slogan, which focuses on investment for production. We have corresponded with relevant ministries to introduce investment plans and programs for production to the Committee, ensuring necessary planning and budgetary support.”

He added that this year’s approach by the Committee and parliament is to attract investment in oil and gas by building investor confidence. “If we can establish this trust, investors will prefer to put their capital into the oil and gas industry rather than keeping it in banks or at home. This will generate both investment and revenue.”

Ahmadi emphasized that a trustworthy environment will lead to active investor participation. “Executive and facilitating bodies, in line with the Supreme Leader’s directive, must prioritize accelerating processes and removing obstacles. This will enhance the appeal of both upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors for investment.”

He noted that the Energy Committee will take necessary measures to facilitate investment, eliminate barriers and draft supportive laws to create a favorable environment for oil and gas industry investment.
