Mohammadreza Rajaei, referencing the National Iranian Oil Company’s (NIOC) policy to optimize South Pars facilities and reduce unnecessary costs, stated that alongside plans to accelerate Phase 11’s development and production, a decision was made to lay 15 kilometers of new offshore pipeline. This pipeline will connect to the 12C platform’s existing line, enabling gas extracted from the 11B platform to be transported to the onshore refinery.
He added that to ensure the pipeline’s quality for safe and stable gas transfer, non-destructive inspection via smart pigging using MFL+TFI technology was scheduled.
Rajaei noted that multiple companies were evaluated for the smart pigging contract, with the selected contractor finalizing agreements, engineering, and procurement. The operation took 17 days, beginning on March 21 and concluding successfully on April 6 after running eight pigs—ahead of schedule and in compliance with quality standards.
He attributed the operation’s success during the Nowruz holidays to the relentless efforts of operational teams and senior management support. Several companies collaborated, including Pars Oil and Gas Company (as client), South Pars Gas Complex, Petropars, Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company, Petropars Aria Kish Operation and Management Company, and Nilsun Kish.
The South Pars Phase 11 development project aims to extract 56 million cubic meters of gas daily. Currently, the first offshore platform of Phase 11, with eight production wells, is operational.
