NIGC credits public-gov’t cooperation for overcoming winter difficulties

SHANA (Tehran) – The deputy oil minister for gas affairs stated that the successful navigation of this winter was made possible by the efforts of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) employees, the support of the Oil Ministry, and the public. He emphasized that those who work sincerely, honestly, and passionately for the country will have their names etched in history.

Saeid Tavakoli, speaking at the final meeting of the Winter Fuel Supply Technical and Operational Coordination Working Group in 1403, noted that this year’s winter was exceptional in terms of cold weather.

The widespread and persistent low temperatures across the country were unprecedented, with many regions experiencing sub-zero conditions. However, thanks to preemptive measures and the coordinated efforts of all sectors within the Oil Ministry, winter preparations began as early as September, ensuring a safe and successful outcome.

Tavakoli highlighted that the dedication of colleagues in oil, refining, and distribution, along with the cooperation of regulatory bodies, demonstrated the NIGC and Oil Ministry’s sincere commitment to serving the nation.

Due to the extreme cold and increased demand in residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, restrictions had to be imposed on some industries and production units. Tavakoli explained that the government’s priority was to ensure gas supply for residential and commercial use. Without these measures, the country would have faced significant challenges, especially under what the Supreme Leader described as a "hybrid war" situation.

He expressed gratitude to Oil Ministry colleagues, particularly those who worked tirelessly day and night under difficult conditions. Tavakoli acknowledged the country’s energy imbalance and stressed that the only solution lies in managing consumption and increasing production.

While the challenges are not yet fully resolved, Tavakoli expressed confidence that with faith in God and sincere efforts, the country can overcome these difficulties. He emphasized that those who work with pure intentions may face obstacles but will never be deterred.

The managing director of the NIGC called on all managers to document this winter’s experiences as valuable lessons. These documented experiences, he said, should serve as intangible organizational assets for the future.
