MP: Oil Ministry actively pursues collection of APG

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the Iranian Parliament's Article 90 Committee stated that the Oil Ministry is seriously pursuing the collection of associated petroleum gas (APG) but emphasized that the process needs to be accelerated.

Nasrollah Pejmanfar, speaking about the committee’s meeting on Monday, which was attended by Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad and his deputies, said the session reviewed the ministry’s efforts to reduce gas imbalances, examined the gas swap agreement between Turkmenistan and Turkey, and discussed the collection of associated petroleum gases. Additionally, the ministry presented a report on its actions regarding decisions made during a visit to Khuzestan Province.

Pejmanfar added that the Article 90 Committee, in line with its oversight role, is reviewing measures to prevent energy imbalances in next Iranian year (to start March 21).

The committee has requested detailed plans from the Oil and Energy Ministries and is investigating interventions that have led to imbalances in the Oil Ministry to avoid repeating this year’s challenges in the summer and winter of the coming year.

The committee head noted that the panel received reports on the Oil Ministry’s performance in the current Iranian year of 1403 and its plans for the upcoming year. Proposals aligned with energy consumption management were also presented.

Pejmanfar stated that while the Oil Ministry is actively pursuing the collection of associated petroleum gases, the commission has decided to leverage penalties outlined in the law to accelerate the process. These penalties will be allocated to fuel consumption optimization efforts, which align with the ministry’s goals.
