Over 20 bcm of gas processed at South Pars Refinery 9

SHANA (Tehran) – The manager of Refinery 9 at the South Pars Gas Complex announced that nearly 21 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas were processed and transferred to the national grid during the first 10 months of the Iranian calendar year 1403 (March 19, 2024–January 19, 2025).

Hamid Khedari, while congratulating the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, stated that the South Pars Gas Complex is one of the most significant achievements of the oil and gas industry over the past 46 years.

“Today, it stands as a symbol of the industry’s grandeur and dignity across the Persian Gulf waters,” the official stated.

He added that during the first 10 months of 1403, by utilizing 100% domestic goods, conducting high-quality maintenance, and ensuring coordination among all units, nearly 21 bcm of gas were sweetened at Refinery 9 and transferred to the national grid.

The manager of Refinery 9 at the South Pars Complex also highlighted the delivery of feedstock from Refinery 9 to the Kangan Petrorefinery, noting that during the same period, over 1.431 bcm of gas were sent from Phase 12 to the Kangan Petrorefinery located at Site 2.

Khedari further mentioned the production of granulated sulfur at Refinery 9, stating that over the past 10 months, with strict adherence to technical standards and high-quality maintenance in the sulfur unit, more than 41,208 tons of sulfur were produced at the facility.

He emphasized that the South Pars Gas Complex now plays a key role in supplying over 73% of the country’s gas, a central role in producing gasoline at the Persian Gulf Star Refinery, providing electricity to the nation, and supplying feedstock to petrochemical plants in the South Pars region.
