Saeid Tavakoli made the remarks during the 25th Domestic Winter Fuel Coordination Meeting, held via videoconference on Thursday, December 31, with the participation of headquarters managers and provincial gas company executives.
He stated that over the past 24 hours, approximately 872 mcm of gas had been injected into the national grid, of which more than 647 mcm were consumed by the residential, commercial, and small industrial sectors.
He added that during this period, around 130.5 mcm of gas were delivered to power plants, a record for the winter season, especially given the average temperatures across the country, with 22 provincial centers experiencing sub-zero conditions.
The deputy oil minister noted that the country is still in the midst of winter, which has unfortunately been marked by low rainfall and severe cold.
These conditions have led to prolonged cold spells in various provinces, particularly in the northeast, while the central plateau has also been affected. These factors have contributed to increased consumption in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
Tavakoli emphasized the importance of optimal gas consumption by all members of society and expressed hope that, by adhering to all guidelines and through the efforts of the dedicated gas industry workforce, the country will successfully navigate this winter without major concerns.
In conclusion, he stressed the need for heightened readiness to serve the public, maintain network stability, and ensure the continuity of operations.
