Rashid Qanei stated that the PGPDIG initiated the PAC production project in the first half of the Iranian year of 1401 (2022) at Urmia Petrochemical Company.
The project aims to create added value, meet domestic demand, reduce pollution, optimize waste management, and foster regional development and employment as he confirmed that the project is now on the verge of becoming operational.
Qanei added that PGPDIG has invested approximately 1 trillion tomans in the polyaluminum chloride project, positioning Urmia Petrochemical Company as the largest producer of PAC in the country.
With production set to begin next month, Urmia Petrochemical Company will fully meet the nation's demand for PAC, eliminating the need for imports of this strategic product.
The plant has a production capacity of 23,000 tons of 30% concentrated solid PAC and 17,000 tons of liquid PAC annually, while the domestic market demand is around 20,000 tons per year.
Qanei noted that the production cost per ton of PAC is a maximum of $400, with a selling price of at least $550.
Given the product's favorable profit margin, shareholders of the PDPIG and Urmia Petrochemical Company are expected to achieve significant economic benefits from this production.
He also highlighted that PDPIG, the majority shareholder of Urmia Petrochemical Company, has contributed to enhancing the country's food and agricultural security through increased production.
For instance, ammonium sulfate fertilizer, which is highly absorbable by plants and promotes tree growth with minimal energy consumption, and potassium sulfate fertilizer, marketed as Solo Potash, which boosts crop resistance to pests and plant diseases, are key products.
Qanei expressed hope that the efforts of engineers, workers, managers, and industry professionals involved in this project would lead to a surge in the production of strategic products, enhance national resilience, drive industrial development, and improve public welfare.
Urmia Petrochemical Company, was established in 1990 as a subsidiary of the PGPDIG. Located 30 kilometers along the Urmia-Mahabad road in northwestern province of West Azarbaijan, the complex spans 110 hectares.
