Securing Mahshahr petrochemical feedstock via Maroon, Ahvaz fields

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) announced that negotiations are underway to develop the Maroon Khami and Ahvaz Khami fields, stating that the development of these fields will ensure a long-term supply of feedstock for petrochemical plants in the Mahshahr region.

Speaking on Wednesday evening during an administrative council meeting in Bandar Mahshahr, Hamid Bovard highlighted that the Bid Boland gas gathering project is currently underway, with its first phase set to become operational by March.

He said, “This project will not only collect associated petroleum gases but also increase the supply of feedstock for petrochemical plants.”

Bovard added, “We are in negotiations to develop the Maroon Khami and Ahvaz Khami fields. The development of these two fields will secure feedstock for petrochemical plants in the Mahshahr region for a very long time.”

The CEO of the NIOC noted that the Mahshahr region has experienced the least reduction in petrochemical feedstock supply.

He said, “We are striving to ensure that the feedstock for petrochemical plants is optimally supplied, God willing. Even during periods of overhaul and mandatory reductions, we have made efforts to maintain the supply of feedstock for Mahshahr’s petrochemical plants.”

Bovard concluded, “With these projects and the inauguration of NGL 3200, the feedstock for petrochemical plants in this region will be secured.”
