Positive steps underway to combat fuel smuggling

SHANA (Tehran) – The government spokesperson said that positive developments are expected in the coming days to prevent fuel smuggling, following recent measures.

Fatemeh Mohajerani, speaking on Wednesday on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting, addressed the steps taken to combat fuel smuggling.

She stated, "The president was concerned about this issue, and reports were presented to him. Appropriate measures have been taken, and networks involved in smuggling have been identified and dismantled. We will witness positive developments in the fight against fuel smuggling in the coming days."

In response to a question about the president’s expressed readiness to engage in talks with the US and the Trump administration during an interview with NBC, Mohajerani added, "Negotiating or not negotiating are matters that are evaluated in line with the principles of the system. If negotiations are to take place or not, they will be based on the triad of dignity, wisdom, and expediency, as directed by the Supreme Leader. The government will certainly act in a manner that preserves Iran’s honor and aligns with the interests of the nation and the system."

Regarding the potential for Iran and Iraq to form a regional economic hub through cooperation, the government spokesperson emphasized, "Countries with shared history and interests are better positioned to focus on economic issues. The recent visit by the Iraqi prime minister underscores this. We hope to return the benefits of these dialogues to the people with a balanced perspective on mutual interests."
