MP: Energy imbalance cannot be resolved in four months

SHANA (Tehran) –The deputy chairman of the parliamentary Energy Committee praised the Oil Ministry's efforts to ensure winter fuel supplies but emphasized that resolving the country's energy imbalance requires time and cannot be achieved within three or four months.

Ramezani Sangdovini acknowledged public frustrations over occasional power outages and noted, “When we delve deeper into the situation, we understand that the Oil Ministry and the oil industry as a whole have performed well under these circumstances.”

He added, “It’s unrealistic to expect the energy imbalance to be resolved in just three or four months. Addressing this challenge is a long-term process. I believe the Oil Ministry is well-managed, and the oil minister, as someone deeply familiar with the industry, understands the issues and is working to resolve them.”

Sangdovini stressed the importance of optimizing energy consumption, a priority also highlighted in the Seventh Development Plan. He called for the establishment of an Energy Consumption Optimization Organization as a necessary step.

He also underscored the significance of investing in the oil and gas sector's workforce. “Increasing oil and gas production and advancing the industry depend on addressing the livelihood challenges of the workforce, which contributes nearly 70% of the national budget. Greater attention to this sector is essential,” he said.

In conclusion, he thanked the public for participating in the “2 Degrees Less” campaign, noting that their cooperation saved several million cubic meters of gas.
