Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company breaks eight-year record for feedstock intake

SHANA (Tehran) – Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company (BIPC) set an unprecedented record for daily feedstock intake during the cold season over the past eight years, receiving more than 82,000 barrels of NGL feedstock daily.

Amid the harsh conditions of December 2024 and feedstock supply limitations for petrochemical plants, the company managed to receive over 82,000 barrels per day of NGL feedstock, marking a historic achievement for its operations.

In addition, in early October 2024, BIPC recorded a rare milestone by receiving over 100,000 barrels of NGL feedstock per day. This achievement underscores the company’s efforts to meet its operational targets and break historical records.

To enhance feedstock intake and increase production capacity, BIPC has implemented key initiatives, including launching upstream NGL 1200 stations with pressure-boosting units 1 to 4 in Gachsaran and collaborating with the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC). The company has also procured essential materials to activate the third and fourth trains of its NGL 700 and NGL 800 plants, a significant step in its development plans.

As part of these efforts, BIPC has completed comprehensive maintenance of air-cooling exchangers at Gachsaran stations and installed a bearing for the No. 2 pressure-boosting compressor. These actions reflect the company’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing its production capacity.

Over the past two years, BIPC has played a critical role in commissioning NGL 1200 units and upstream stations, which had been out of service for at least four years due to reduced capacity. These units have now resumed operations. Additionally, extensive maintenance of the NGL 1500 plant in 2023, carried out by BIPC specialists, has contributed to ensuring a stable feedstock supply.

Other initiatives include collaboration with NISOC to stabilize and increase feedstock intake, repairing and supplying spare parts for upstream NGL 1200 stations, commissioning NGL 1300 stations (which had been out of service for over six years due to sanctions), and conducting major repairs on NGL 400 propane compressors.

BIPC is also involved in projects such as replacing 6-inch and 16-inch pipelines west of the Karun River, covering a 10-kilometer stretch, to stabilize and increase feedstock supplies.

These measures have enabled BIPC to receive over 24 million barrels of NGL feedstock in 2023, achieving 106% of its targets and setting a new record for feedstock supply.
