Speaking with Shana, he further announced that the seventh well of the development plan of Phase 11 of South Pars gas field has been operational.
According to him, following the completion of acidizing operations in the coming weeks, gas extraction from this well will reach full capacity.
Phase 11 is the last development project of the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf waters, located near the shared border with Qatar. The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) signed the development contract for this phase in 2017 with a consortium comprising France’s Total, China’s CNPC, and Petropars.
However, after the foreign partners exited the contract following the U.S. sanctions on Iran, the Iranian company took over the responsibility for developing Phase 11, and the first gas extraction from this phase was carried out last year (2023).
With the full operation of the first platform of Phase 11 of South Pars, gas extraction from this phase will reach 28 million cubic meters per day.
