Iran’s productivity chief: Country looks to oil industry for economic growth

SHANA (Tehran) – The National Productivity Organization of Iran head said the country looks to the oil industry – the industry of work and efforts – for economic growth.

Mir-Saman Pishvaee, who addressed a session on executive bodies’ productivity on Tuesday, added, “To achieve economic growth under current circumstances, the country has no option but to increase productivity.”

Progress is everyone’s concern, he continued and underlined that development is now tied to economic issues, and that is why Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has picked economic slogans for naming the recent years.

The energy sector enjoys great capacities and the oil industry is included in this sector, the NPO chief added.

Pishvaee said the organization is currently cooperating with the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) with the aim of boosting productivity.

Petchem industry keen to improve productivity

Intelligentization of systems in oil, gas, and electricity industries helps find the treasure of energy optimization, Pishavaee underscored.

A number of petrochemical companies, for instance, are willing to prepurchase gas and make investment in optimization projects, he added.

“We have to think of creative and innovative strategies to promote industrial productivity and optimization,” the NPO head emphasized.

Oil Ministry leadership in productivity

The Oil Ministry has made maximum use of NPO’s plans and services so that leadership in productivity goes to the ministry, Pishvaee mentioned.

Three issues selected and prioritized for increasing productivity in most of provinces are related to the energy sector, said the official, energy and water have been given top priority.

He also pointed to state-owned companies, whose productivity assessment systems have been updated with more effective and accurate features and indexes.
