NIGC CEO: SP phases 11, 14 inauguration outcome of reliance on Iranian experts

SHANA (Tehran) – The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) managing director on Tuesday said inauguration of phases 11 and 14 of the South Pars (SP) gas field, promotion of energy diplomacy, and increase in gas and condensate exports despite sanctions are indicative of the Oil Ministry’s reliance on Iranian experts and managers’ capabilities.

Majid Chegeni, who made the remarks in a meeting between the board of directors of NIGC and South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC), added the country’s oil and gas industry has made great success since two years ago, attributing a large portion of achievements to Oil Minister Javad Owji’s approach to managerial and macro issues.

The NIGC staff take the helm of the country’s energy sector and SPGC enjoys a special status in decision-making process as the complex is producing the highest volume of gas in the country, the deputy oil minister mentioned.

Elaborating on SPGC’s main tasks, he pointed to reduction of gas flaring underscored by the president and the oil minister, calling for speeding up the implementation of projects for collecting associated petroleum gas (APG).

Shifting to liquefied gas exports, Chegeni said it is necessary to remove obstacles in the way of exports and fetch the country hard currency.
