MP: Stronger foreign presence in Iran Oil Show indicative of energy diplomacy promotion

SHANA (Tehran) – A lawmaker here on Friday said the Ministry of Petroleum’s energy diplomacy is certainly among the reasons behind the increase in number of foreign participants in Iran Oil Show 2023.

Talking to SHANA on the sidelines of the 27th Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition, Abdolali Rahimi Mozaffari, a member of the Parliament’s Energy Committee, added this year’s exhibition is different from previous editions in terms of quantity and quality.

The lawmaker expressed his satisfaction with good developments taking place in the ongoing exhibition, exemplifying stronger presence of domestic and foreign companies.

“In my view, diplomacy is not limited only to political issues,” opined Rahimi Mozaffari, assuring “if we exercise strong diplomacy in the industrial and energy sectors, such exhibitions will prompt foreign companies to visit the country”.

The parliamentarian described the Ministry of Petroleum under Javad Owji as “powerful” and continued, “He took office in a difficult situation, as the ministry had been politicized and just an experienced person could rescue it. Today, the Ministry of Petroleum’s political atmosphere has been turned to economic one.”

He also pointed to transactions of crude oil and gas condensate certificates of deposit in Iran Energy Exchange (IRENEX), and growing oil production and export as other important measures of the ministry under the 13th (incumbent) administration.

Iran Oil Show 2023 kicked off in Tehran on Wednesday and will be open to visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (0530 to 1330 GMT) until Saturday.

Some 200 companies from 13 countries, and 1,500 domestic companies have taken part in the exhibition.
