Majid Chegeni made the announcement in a news conference at the 27th Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition, aka Iran Oil Show 2023, in Tehran.

Elaborating on Iran’s gas exports to neighboring countries, the official added the Iranian and Turkish experts are studying the extension of their contract and will hold further talks.

According to him, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Oman have also voiced their willingness to import gas from Iran.

“Negotiations with these countries are on the agenda,” said the deputy minister, however adding, “Necessary infrastructure for signing contracts with some countries is not ready.”

Shifting to the extension of the gas contract with Iraq, Chegeni said the deal will be extended when Iraq’s debt amounting to $8 billion is paid.
