Oil minister accompanying Raeisi arrives in Damascus

SHANA (Tehran) -- Iran's President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi accompanied by some ministers, including Oil Minister Javad Owji, arrived in Damascus on Wednesday.

Heading a high-ranking economic and political delegation, the president is paying a two-day visit to the Syrian capital at the invitation of his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad.

Raeisi and other top Iranian officials will discuss bilateral relations in different fields with Assad and Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnous.

The two sides will also sign documents and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to boost their cooperation in the economic and energy sectors.
Upon his departure, Raeisi told reporters the two countries are determined to develop their ties.

The expansion of Tehran-Damascus relations will certainly serve the two nations and region's interests, said the president.
