Iran 8-Month Petchem Output at 47 mt

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iran’s petrochemical output reached 47 million tons in the first 8 months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.

The director of production control at the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said that the figure was 7% higher than in the same period last year.

According to NPC, Bijan Chegeni stated: “The country's petrochemical complexes have produced a total of 47 million tons of petrochemicals with 71% of the nominal capacity in the first eight months of this [calendar] year.”

According to him, 2.5 million tons of aromatics, 5.4 million tons of polymer materials, 5.6 million tons of fertilizers and related materials, 14.1 million tons of hydrocarbon materials and 19.5 million tons of basic and chemical materials from the beginning of this year were produced by Iran's petrochemical industry during the period.

The NPC official further said that production grew by 8% in the Assaluyeh petrochemical hub (23 million tons) and 14% in Mahshahr and other areas (13 and 11 million tons, respectively).

Chegeni continued: “1.303 million tons of feedstock were injected into the West Ethylene Pipeline in the period, while the figure was 1.297 million tons last year.”
