1st Methanol to Synthetic Ethanol Plant to be built in Iran

TEHRAN (Shana) – A methanol-to-synthetic ethanol conversion plant will be built for the first time in the country's petrochemical industry with the signing of the technology transfer agreement for this project between Zagros Petrochemical Company and China's Dalian.

According to Zagros Petrochemical Plant, the technical know-how transfer agreement for Zagros Petrochemical Plant’s methanol to synthetic ethanol conversion project with a production capacity of 300,000 tons was signed between Zagros Petrochemical Company and China’s Dalian.

Matin Didari, the CEO of Zagros Petrochemical Company, in the signing ceremony of the technical know-how transfer agreement, said: “With the signing of this contract, the first 300,000-ton plant for converting methanol to synthetic ethanol in the country will come on stream within 36 months, and Zagros Petrochemical Company will take a major step to complete the value chain and move towards converting methanol to synthetic ethanol for the first time in the country's petrochemical industry.”

Zagros Petrochemical Company, one of the world's largest methanol producers, aims to complete its downstream chain and create value-added from this item by launching such projects.
