10% Rise in gas storage of Shourijeh Reservoir

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of Shahid Hasheminejad Gas Refining Company announced a 10% increase in gas reserves of the Shourijeh reservoir in the 8 months of the current Iranian calendar year (which began on March 21) compared to the same period last year.

According to the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Yahya Feizi, referring to the operational activities and refining of sour gas, emphasized the role of Shourijeh Storage Complex in the stability of natural gas production in the cold days of winter, and said: “Gas storage, due to its economic advantages, being safe and easy to access creates a strategic advantage for the country and this clean and cheap energy is available to the nation.”

He stated that in the 8 months of this calendar year, 1.825 billion cubic meters of gas was stored in the Shourijeh reservoir, which has increased by 10% compared to the same time last year, and added: “The withdrawal from this reservoir began on November 1 for ensuring the stability of production in the winter; an average of 15 million cubic meters of gas is taken from this reservoir daily.”
