Iran Petroleum Minister Hosts Meeting with Tajik Opposite Number

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji hosted a meeting in his Tehran office on Tuesday evening with the visiting Tajik minister of energy.

The two sides negotiated on oil and gas condensate export, export of petroleum products, petrochemical products, Iran's exploration and extraction in Tajikistan, export of technical and engineering services and reconstruction and modernization of Tajikistan's oil refineries.

Petroleum Minister Javad Owji hosted a meeting with Tajik Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma, who came to Iran to participate in the 15th Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Tajikistan, in the central building of the Petroleum Ministry.

In the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation in the export of oil, gas condensates and petroleum products, petrochemical products, Iran's exploration and extraction in Tajikistan, the export of technical and engineering services, and the reconstruction and modernization of Tajikistan's oil refineries.

The delegations of Iran and Tajikistan held expert meetings today (Wednesday, December 7) following the talks between the ministers of the two countries yesterday.

The 15th joint commission for economic cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Tajikistan began on Monday under the chairmanship of Ali Akbar Mehrabian, the Minister of Energy, and Daler Juma, the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, and ended its work on Tuesday. Several cooperation documents were signed at the summit.

The government of Tajikistan supplies about 90% of its energy needs with imports, and most of the country's oil and gas reserves are located in the southwest of Tajikistan along the Amu Darya Basin.
