Iran and Venezuela took a new path to expand cooperation in the 13th administration, and this Latin American country has been one of the focal points of the Ministry of Petroleum’s diplomacy, and extensive cooperation in this field is underway.
During the visit of the Iranian petroleum minister and his delegation to Venezuela in May, several agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed in the field of development and production in oil and gas fields, upgrade and renovation of refineries and utilization of refinery capacities, training manpower and expertise in oil, gas and petrochemical industries, issuance of engineering technical services and technology transfer and development of export markets for crude oil, gas condensate and petroleum products.
In October, Petroleum Minister Javad Owji announced the launch of the first offshore refinery called El Palito in Venezuela and the daily refining of 100,000 barrels of crude oil from the country's fields in this refinery.
