Iran Acquires Savvy to Lighten Heavy Oil Atomically

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The Deputy Director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said: “This technical know-how of lightening heavy crude oil with atomic radiation will be unveiled at the first knowledge-based conference of the oil industry.”

According to the news headquarters of the first conference and exhibition of technology management of knowledge-based products in Iran's oil industry, Seyed Pejman Shirmardi, referring to the participation of AEOI in this event, said: “AEOI has the acquired the savvy of using radiation to break hydrocarbon structures and increase the API of heavy crude with the aim of lightening and reducing its viscosity.”

He added: “Until now, AEOI has carried out numerous research activities with the aim of using atomic radiation in the processing of oil, gas, refining and petrochemical products.”

Declaring that one of the plans for the use of radiation in the oil industry is to facilitate and accelerate lightening of heavy and extra-heavy crude oil, the AEOI deputy stated: “Iran has one of the largest reserves of heavy and extra-heavy crude oil in the world. Therefore, the acquisition of this knowledge has provided a new chapter in the development of cooperation between AEOI and the country's oil industry under the crippling sanctions and the ongoing economic war.”

The first conference and exhibition of technology management of knowledge-based products in Iran's oil industry will be held from December 13 to 15 under the initiative of Sanat Naft University at the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI).
