TEHRAN (Shana) -- The Director of Research and Technology of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) said the company has defined 10 oil and gas megaprojects with a total value of €30 million and Rls. 1,500 billion.

According to NIOC, Mahdia Motahari said on Wednesday: “With the approval of the NIOC Board of Directors, a list of 14 strategic items required by the oil industry have been prepared based on the product management of NIOC, and the related licensing rounds will be held in the near future.”

He added: “This list can generate a turnover of several hundred million dollars inside the country and be effective in the formation of knowledge-based and technological companies.”

The Director of Research and Technology of NIOC announced the definition of 10 megaprojects in the field of oil and gas exploration in the company, and said: “These projects are worth €30 million and Rls. 1,500 billion and will effectively contribute to job creation and technology development in the country.”

Motahari further underlined the cooperation between the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and NIOC as an effective step in improving the scientific level in the country, and said: “About 80% of the research projects assigned to the Ministry of Science concern the projects of the oil industry.”

According to him, in addition, effective measures have been taken by NIOC in the field of supporting students, including the approval of the company's board of directors to grant scholarships to doctoral students.

The director of research and technology of the National Iranian Oil Company continued: “This plan is currently in the finalization stages and it is hoped that it will be implemented within the next month.”

Motahari referred to the plan to revive low-yield wells, the implementation preparations of which were finalized in February at NIOC, as the most important support plan for knowledge-based companies.

He mentioned the formation of knowledge-based demand as the main task of the National Iranian Oil Company, and stated: “To realize this strategy, there is a need for mutual learning and increased cooperation. At the same time, it is necessary for knowledge-based companies to prioritize new technological projects in order to meet the needs of the oil industry.”
