Iran Eyes 15-40% Oil Output Rise by EOR

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The integrated planning director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) said by applying EOR and IOR methods the country’s petroleum production could increase by 15 to 40 percent.

Addressing the first national conference on increasing the productivity of oil and gas wells at the specialized conference center of the National Iranian Oil Company on Tuesday, Karim Zobeidi said that the way to communicate with oil and gas reservoirs is the wells and focused should be directed on their study.

Petrophysical charts, production, imaging, diameter analysis, pressure and temperature, and well testing are the ways of communicating with reservoirs today, he said.

He stated: “Currently, the average recovery from oil and gas wells in the country is 1,500 barrels per day in the oil sector and 1,500,000 cubic meters per day in the gas sector.”

The NIOC official further said that production of oil well averaged at around 37,000 b/d prior to the 1979 revolution and investment is needed to enhance output of old fields like Maroon, Gachsaran, Aghajari and Ahwaz.
