Iran, Russia Building Strong Ties: Envoy

TEHRAN (Shana) -- Iran's ambassador to Russia said Tehran and Moscow have established very good cooperation in the field of energy, and one of these areas is investment in oil and gas fields.

Kazem Jalali, in an interview with Shana, underlined the 16th meeting of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Russia, and stated that the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia are developing day by day.

“This relationship development can be evaluated in two approaches; one of them is the issue of the neighborhood of the two countries and the second issue is the closeness of the views of Iran and Russia in the world arena,” he said, adding, “Iran and Russia have a common and close view on global management, as well as global power structure.”

He added: “The closeness of views in the two countries prompts us to be able to develop our relations more than in the past. Fortunately, Iran and Russia have had good relations in the fields of security, politics, defense and military since the past, and today the relations in these sectors are growing and developing, however, there are shortcomings in the field of relations concerning trade and economy.”

The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia stated: “We are currently in a period where after the visit of the president to Russia in February 2022, new alignments have been established in the relations between the two countries.”
