5-Month Gas Supply to Industries up 13% Y/Y

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said gas supply to the country's major industrial units, including steel, cement and petrochemicals, has increased by 13% in the first 5 months of the current calendar year, which began on March 21 compared to the same period last year.

Referring to the increase in the amount of gas supplied to industries in the calendar year of 1401, Majid Chegeni said: “In the first 5 months of this year, major industries of the country have received 145 million cubic meters of gas per day.”

He added: “The amount of gas supplied to the country's major industries in the steel, cement and petrochemical sectors in the same period last year was 128 million cubic meters per day, and based on this, in the 5 months of this year, we have seen a 13% rise in gas supply to these sectors compared to the same period last year.”

The deputy petroleum minister for gas affairs stated: “With proper and complex planning, along with extensive plans for overhaul of facilities, pressure booster stations, refineries in all parts of the country, the gas delivered to power plants this summer has increased by 6% compared to last year. This is important so that we don't face a power outage this year.”
