1st Unit of Combined Cycle Power Plant of South Pars Online

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The first unit of the combined cycle project of the South Pars centralized power plant came on stream with a capacity of 160 megawatts and an investment of more than €450 million euros.

A ceremony was held on Monday in Bushehr, southern Iran, in the presence of Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji to launch the project which is built to meet the shortage of electricity generation required by the refineries located in the Kangan region, related to phases 12, 13, 14, 19, 22-24 of South Pars, Siraf Refining Complex, as well as increasing the stability of the power grid of Pars Oil and Gas Company.

This power plant with a capacity of 480 megawatts is implemented in the Ba'sat centralized power plant development department and includes three combined cycle blocks with a power generation capacity of 160 megawatts per block in ISO conditions. The first steam unit of this power plant was put into operation in April this year with a capacity of 160 megawatts.
