80,000 b/d Growth in Iran Gas Condensate Sweetening Capacity

TEHRAN (Shana) – Inauguration of the first condensate sweetening and demercaptanization unit of phases 2 and 3 of South Pars enhance the gas condensate sweetening capacity by 80,000 barrels and strengthen the export infrastructure of this item.

Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji on the sidelines of a one-day trip to southern province of Bushehr, stated that sweet condensate has a higher price and customers in the market, adding: "Undoubtedly, the use of sweet gas condensate inside the country is very beneficial, while the export of sweet gas condensate has more hard currency earnings for the country due to higher demand.”

Also Mohsen Khojastehmehr, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, said that an investment of €74 million has been made for construction of a demercaptanization unit for phases 2 and 3 of South Pars gas field.

The unit adds 80,000 barrels a day to the country’s gas condensate sweetening capacity.
