Tehran, Caracas seeking to develop Energy Ties

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said: "There is good cooperation between Tehran and Caracas in the field of energy, thermal power plants, repair of refineries, export of technical and engineering services, economic, defense and military relations."

Welcoming the Venezuelan President and his entourage in a joint press conference with Nicolas Maduro in Tehran today (Saturday, June 11), Seyed Ebrahim Raisi said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always sought relations with other independent countries in the field of foreign policy and Venezuela has always resisted enemy sanctions and imperialism with exemplary resistance.”

He said that the fraternal relations between Iran and Venezuela will continue and the signing of a 20-year document between the two countries shows this determination, adding: "Sanctions and threats against our country have been numerous in the last 42 years and the Iranian people have turned them into opportunities.”

"As the White House spokesman has stated, the maximum pressure on Iran has failed miserably, and this is a point of victory for Iran and a point of defeat for the enemies," he said.

Raisi considered the signing of a comprehensive document of 20-year strategic cooperation between Iran and Venezuela as a manifestation of the will of the two countries' top officials to develop relations in various fields, and stressed: “There is good cooperation between Tehran and Caracas in the field of energy, thermal power plants, refinery repairs, export of technical and engineering services, economic, defense and military relations, which shows the high capacity of relations between the two countries and the 13th administration seeks to improve these relations to the highest level.”

"Tehran and Caracas have close cooperation in all areas, especially in the fields of defense, economy and energy (oil and petrochemicals)," the Venezuelan president told the press conference.
