TEHRAN (Shana) -- The operator of the South Pars Phase 13 development project announced the export of the first shipment of cold liquefied petroleum gas of the phase from the port of Siraf Pars.

According to Pars Oil and Gas Company, Payam Motamed said on Wednesday: “For the first time, cold liquefied petroleum gas (butane) from South Pars phase 13 refinery will be sent to Siraf Pars port through a pipeline. The cargo of 12,000 tons of processed butane was loaded overnight by mooring a special vessel for transporting cold liquefied petroleum gas through the jetty number one of the port.”

He added: "Since the beginning of the commissioning of liquefied gas separation and purification units, these valuable products have been exported in hot form, and with the completion of the cooling unit and storage tanks, the export of these valuable products has started in cold form."

Payam Motamed emphasized: “The sale of liquefied petroleum gas and sulfur to refineries and petrochemical complexes in the South Pars region causes a proper hard currency generation under the sanctions and helps the country's economy.”

The phase 13 development project is aimed at producing 56 million cubic meters of sour gas, 75,000 barrels of gas condensate and 400 tons of sulfur per day and 1.5 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas (propane and butane) and one million tons of ethane annually to feed petrochemical units.
