Gholamreza Kosuhki said on Monday that as mid-March approaches, the country has experienced its lowest temperatures this year, leading to record-high gas consumption in the residential and commercial sectors. On February 26, gas consumption in these sectors hit 703 mcm, breaking the annual record.
He noted that on March 2, gas consumption in the residential and commercial sectors was 675 mcm, representing nearly 78% of the country’s total gas production. Meanwhile, industrial, power plant, and electricity generation sectors accounted for about 22% of the total gas production.
He added that according to the latest data from the Meteorological Organization, temperatures are expected to rise starting March 5, which could lead to a decrease in gas consumption in the residential and commercial sectors. This would allow for increased gas supply to industries and power plants.
Koushki predicted that gas consumption would decrease by 5% to 6% by the end of the week. He also mentioned that the country’s gas production reached 866 mcm on Sunday, with the majority being used in the residential and commercial sectors.
