Gas Condensate Exports Grow: Min.

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji says the country’s gas condensate exports were on the rise, adding a new record has been set in gas production from the joint South Pars gas field.

Addressing reporters on the sidelines of an exhibition of the capabilities of Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR), and following signing of a number of deals between ACECR and subsidiaries of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum on Monday, Owji said the administration of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi had no plans to increase the price of petrol, adding the record of 705 million cubic meters of gas production from South Pars joint field was set in late December.

He stated that the amount of liquid fuel consumption in power plants in the three months of autumn this year was 26 percent, adding: “This figure is 7 percent less than the same period last year (33 percent), which shows that in the three months of autumn this year, on average 20 million cubic meters more gas was consumed by power plants.”

The Minister of Petroleum stated that at the beginning of autumn this year, “we were concerned about gas condensate and a large volume of this item was floating on the sea, adding: "With a good initiative, the export of gas condensate increased and part of it was used domestically."

Upward Trend in Exports

Owji noted the role of petrochemical companies in meeting the country's hard currency needs and quoting the recent remarks of Ali Salehabadi, Governor of the Central Bank of Iran on the country's hard currency status, said: “Thanks to God and the efforts of the employees of the oil industry, the process of our exports, including crude oil, gas condensate, natural gas, petroleum products and petrochemicals in the first 9 months of the current calendar year, which began on March 21 is very acceptable and many times that of last year.”

He added: "Receiving our hard currency claims has also been very desirable, and God willing, this process will improve and progress with signing of new contracts."

He added: “Signing of the Turkmen gas swap agreement from Iran to Azerbaijan, which will be operational in two weeks, will help provide a stable winter fuel for the northern provinces of the country."
