Gas Swap Deal Boosts Iran Economic Exchanges with Neighbors: MP

TEHRAN (Shana) -- A member of the parliament's energy committee said the gas swap agreement between Iran, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan would bolster Iran’s economic exchanges with its neighbors and would be effective in other areas as well.”

Speaking to Shana, Fereydoun Abbasi underlined the trilateral agreement on gas swaps between Iran, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan, and said: "Although the full implementation of this agreement is important, such an agreement can eliminate some of the gas imbalances in winter, especially in the north."

He added: "This agreement will increase our economic exchanges with our neighbors and will be effective in other areas as well, and will pave the way for other issues such as gas barters and so on."

The member of the Energy Committee of the Parliament stated: "The tripartite agreement between Iran, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan will be useful for us in the situation where we are facing a drop in pressure in some gas fields in South Pars.”
