Permits for Building Petchem Projects Obtained

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The Director General of Market Research of the National Petrochemical Company said 33 propulsion projects have been defined in Iran’s petrochemical industry, and added: "Currently, 20 projects have received construction permits, some of which are included in the third leap basket of the petrochemical industry and have been activated by private investors."

According to the National Petrochemical Company, Masoud Sayehban stated about the prospects of implementing propulsion plans: “Petrochemical industry propulsion plans with the strategy of completing and developing the value chain and compensating the shortage of feed required by secondary industries, diversifying the product mix, generating value added and job creation were defined two years ago with the focus on management, planning and development.”

He said that the propulsion projects are defined in the form of 33 projects, adding: "Currently, 20 projects have received construction permits, some of which are included in the third leap basket of the petrochemical industry and have been activated by private sector investors."

The official noted: “With the development of propulsion projects in the main chains of propylene, methanol, ethylene, benzene, urea and butadiene, 20 new types of petrochemical products will be produced domestically, and petrochemical imports will decline by 70%.”

Sayehban called one of the strategies for the development of the petrochemical industry the completion of the methanol chain, and added: "Now the country's methanol capacity is 12 million tons and with the launch of active methanol projects by 1404 (2025), this annual capacity will reach 23 million tons."
