Debt Of Mutnovskaya Thermal Power Plant Building Rescheduled

Petropavlovsk - The Kamchatka region administration has reached an agreement with the Russian finance ministry and RAO UES (Unified Energy Systems) of Russia on the rescheduling of debts accumulated in the course of the construction of the Mutnovskaya geothermal power plant in the peninsula.

The debt will be rescheduled for 30 years, the press service of the regional administration told Itar-Tass on Tuesday. Three geothermal power plants with the total capacity of 73 megawatts are operating in Russia. All of them are located in Kamchatka Peninsula. The Mutnovskaya geothermal PP is the most modern and powerful of them. It generates 50 megawatts of electricity. It works on the resources of the Mutnovsky volcano geothermal field. Natural steam is supplied to the stations generators from a depth of 300 metres. The Mutnovskaya GPP is located at a height of 1,000 metres above sea level 120 kilometres away from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Total investment in its construction has amounted to 166 million U.S. dollars. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) provided a credit worth 99.9 million U.S. dollars for the plant construction. The largest investor on the part of Russia is RAO UES of Russia. The geothermal power plant was put into operation in October 2002. PIN//ITAR_TASS
