Jeddah - The CEO of the Saudi Arabian Amiantit Company announced that his company has been awarded a contract worth SR27.77 million ($7.4 million) by the Royal Commission for Jubail for the supply of 6,228 linear meters of pipes to transport sea water.

The pipes, with a diameter up to 4000mm, will be made from fiberglass reinforced polyester (GRP). Amiantit is the only company worldwide that commercially produces such a huge size pipes. The advantages of GRP products are that they are strong, durable and corrosion resistant that guarantees long-term systems operation performance with minimum operational/maintenance costs. They are also economical in terms of installation and life cycle costs. Earlier this year, Amiantit Fiberglass Industries Ltd., a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Amiantit Company, achieved a world record with the production of a four-meter diameter GRP pipe, the first to be made using an automated process.
