Iran Petchem Output up 8% in H1

TEHRAN (Shana) –The production control manager of the National Petrochemical Company said that the country’s petrochemical output saw an 8-percent year-o-year growth in the first half of the current calendar year, which began on March 21.

According to the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), "Petrochemical complexes produced 32.8 million tons of various petrochemicals in the first six months of this [calendar] year and supplied them to global markets after meeting domestic needs," Seyed Jalal Mirhashemi said.

Emphasizing that the priority of production is to meet domestic needs and then exports, he said: “In this regard, production of petrochemical products based on the plans made in the first 6 months of this year has seen growth, with an eight percent increase over the same period last year.”

The official added: "Due to the spread of coronavirus in the country, the supply of raw materials for grades required by the health sector, including grades used to produce masks continues by petrochemical complexes with a desirable capacity."

Emphasizing that the Iranian petrochemical industry is one of the mother industries and the most important pillars of development and the driving force of various sectors of the country's economy, the director of production control at the National Petrochemical Company said: “The NPC approach is a product mix in this industry.”

Mirhashemi stated that according to the plans, the growth and leap of production of Iran's petrochemical industry has been targeted, adding: "Conditions and infrastructure have been provided for the leap of production in Iran's petrochemical industry and in addition to launching and operating new projects, the empty capacities of some existing complexes will be used to the maximum.”
