Rouhani to Launch Azar Oil Field Development Plan

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The Azar oil field development project with a daily production capacity of 65,000 barrels of crude oil will be put into operation on Monday, February 29, 2021, in the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani via video conference.

According to the National Iranian Oil Company, the Azar joint field development project, known as the most complex oil field in the country, will be officially operational tomorrow by order of the President via video conference.

Providing national interests, creating employment opportunities for local forces and economic prosperity and infrastructure development in Ilam are among the prominent goals of implementation of the plan.

Azar oil field is located in Anaran exploration block in Ilam Province (southwest of Iran and 25 km from Mehran County) on the border of Iran and Iraq.
