According to the National Petrochemical Company, Mohammadi, who is also the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said the technology to turn propylene from methanol has been localized by the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC), and said: “5 million tons of surplus methanol in the country will become a valuable product of propylene with the implementation of new projects.”
During a visit to Maroon Petrochemical Company and Mahshahr Center of Petrochemical Research and Technology Company, described the pure ethylene oxide production project of Maroon Complex as one of the valuable projects of petrochemical industry, adding the project would come online in 2026 with 45,000 tons of production capacity.
Noting that Maroon Petrochemical Plant is a supplier of a variety of items, he added: "The National Petrochemical Company supports development projects and in this direction, the production portfolio of this complex will become more important with the operation of EO project, and value chain development in Maroon is being achieved.”
Mohammadi added: "Although the Petronad project has a production capacity of 110,000 tons per year, by launching 6 units in this petrochemical plant, it will make the country needless to import many products."
The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company stated that the country is facing a shortage of propylene production, adding, "In this direction, the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company has made an important achievement by localizing the savvy of converting methanol to propylene."
