Pezeshkian, Putin meet in Turkmenistan, pledge closer economic ties

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran's president and Russia's president met on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Independent States summit and a Caspian Sea environmental meeting in Turkmenistan.

Masoud Pezeshkian and Vladimir Putin reviewed achievements in bilateral relations and focused on strengthening economic and strategic cooperation in key sectors, including energy, agriculture, transportation and trade.

During the talks, the two sides stressed the need to speed up the finalization and completion of joint projects. They also expressed determination to broaden cooperation across all areas to serve both countries' national interests and strengthen regional stability.

The strategic relationship between Iran and Russia in energy, especially oil and gas, is a central focus of their engagement. It has led to several long-term memorandums of understanding on investment in energy infrastructure and the exchange of new technologies.
